This expansion and rehabilitation project commenced in June, 2010. It consists of extending the existing runway by approximately 500m (for a total available runway length of 2,804m), expanding the apron by 37,000m2, constructing a new taxiway, and resurfacing the entire existing runway. In order to so, approximately 600,000m3 of mass will be removed from an existing hill at the end of the Runway. These expansions, set for completion in one year, will provide significantly greater flexibility and functionality for airport operations.
