SCOPE OF WORK:
- Built for the new westbound lane over the Digdeguash River at the mouth of the Bay of Fundy
- Overall length of 160 meters with foundations consisting of drilled concrete caissons for the centre pier and concrete abutments sitting on original rock
- Job involved twinning existing bridge and replacing existing deck (concrete supported by steel girders)
- One of the major challenges was tide differential: a tressle was chosen to support construction of the concrete caissons and pier structure
- Environmental, quality, and safety management systems were in place for the duration of the project
